Medical Care
Vincentian's medical care for rest home and hospital residents is of paramount importance and we have an enviable reputation for care quality.
Both the rest home and hospital are staffed 24 hours a day by a dedicated team of registered nurses and experienced care givers. Our registered nurses have a special interest in aged-care nursing and all care givers are required to have, or complete, the National Certificate in Support of the Older Person. Staff turnover is very low so they get to know our residents individually ensuring attention to their personal needs.
We have a contracted Physiotherapist and a General Practitioner who visits weekly and provides 24 hour, on-call medical cover. Both of these services are free to all residents.
If you wish to continue using your current doctor you will need to arrange this with them. Their visits will attract a fee which you will have to pay.
We also have a visiting Podiatrist who charges a small fee for his services unless it is prescribed by a medical practitioner as a part of your overall treatment plan.
Vincentian Rest Home
Vincentian is licensed for just 20 rest home residents which allows staff to provide a high level of individualised attention. Respite care is also offered when beds are available.
While we deliver the medical and care support services as you should expect, we also strive to ensure that every aspect of your stay with us is comfortable, interesting and stimulating. There are varied, nutritious meals and special requirements such as vegetarian and diabetic diets are provided for. We provide an extensive range of recreational activities, a very important consideration often overlooked by relatives when searching for a rest home.
You are encouraged to bring your favourite chair, a television set, pictures and ornaments or other items that make you feel right at home. Almost anything is acceptable providing it can fit in your room and does not cause a safety risk.
Hospital care is also available on site should a health change occur.
Vincentian Hospital
Vincentian was opened as a rest home in 1979 and was extended in 2001 to also provide 34 residential hospital rooms.
In addition to registered nurses and visiting medical professionals (general practitioner and physiotherapist) we have a Care Manager who is a Registered Nurse with many years experience in caring for elderly hospital residents. Her role is to co-ordinate the activities of all team members to ensure the best possible care for all residents.
Vincentian also has essential care equipment such as hoists, wheelchairs, electric beds and pressure relieving devises that hospital residents may require.
As with all Vincentian residents we encourage you to bring favourite chair, a television set, pictures and ornaments or other items that make you feel right at home.
